Darlington Borough Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Dog Warden to join our Civic Enforcement Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about animal welfare, public safety, and delivering high standards of customer service. In this role, you will play a key part in promoting responsible dog ownership, protecting animal welfare, and ensuring compliance with legislation relating to dog control across the borough.
As a Dog Warden, you will respond to reports of stray dogs, investigate complaints relating to dog control and dog fouling, undertake enforcement action where appropriate, and work closely with residents, partner agencies, and animal welfare organisations. You will also assist with community engagement activities and ensure accurate records and evidence are maintained to support enforcement activities.
The successful candidate will have experience in enforcement, animal welfare, environmental services, community safety, or a related field. You will possess excellent communication and conflict management skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in challenging situations. A strong commitment to animal welfare and customer service excellence is essential, alongside good report writing, evidence gathering, and IT skills. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
