A qualified solicitor is required to undertake child protection legal work. The post-holder will be an effective communicator, able to provide concise advice and draft court applications, and will be a confident advocate. Post qualification experience of undertaking child protection cases is preferred.

Work is currently underway to establish a company (Together for Children – Sunderland) to deliver Children’s Services functions on behalf of the council and it is expected that the company will operate independently by April 2017. This post and the post-holder will transfer to the company from that date. Individuals who start after 1st April 2017 will commence their employment with the Together for Children. Terms of conditions of employment will not be effected.
