Together for Children, Sunderland

The Children’s Sensory Team within Together for Children provides, on behalf of Sunderland City Council, high quality educational support to children and young people with sensory impairments across the City of Sunderland

We have a strong commitment to multi-agency working, inclusive education, high standards of attainment, and quality of life experiences for all our pupils/ students. This post offers a diverse and stimulating range of duties with strong professional support.

We are seeking a permanent Teacher of the Visually Impaired (0.8 FTE) to join our team as soon as possible.

Applicants should be enthusiastic, successful and highly motivated teachers.

A specialist qualification to teach visually impaired children is required for this role, however we are happy to consider applications from teachers who have substantial teaching experience and are able and willing to undertake the mandatory training course to qualify as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired within the next two years.

This post involves direct teaching and advisory support for children with visual impairments in a range of schools and settings across the City.

A full current driving licence and daily use of a car is necessary
