Digital Development Specialist, fixed term for 2 years

The North of Tyne Combined Authority is a ground-breaking organisation, with the transfer of unprecedented new powers from Government to the North of Tyne. We will make an ambitious contribution to the lives of local people, with a clear priority to help the communities we serve to fulfil their true potential – in all aspects of life. We will be managing and allocating an Investment Fund of £600 million for the next 30 years. Our work is diverse and covers areas from business support and growth to employment and skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to play your part in shaping the future of digital connectivity, infrastructure, and services in the North of Tyne. You will be at the heart of our approach to improving digital infrastructure and connectivity for our residents and businesses – providing specialist knowledge, building the case for investment and exploring new ways for us to collaborate and drive change with and through our key partners.

You will play an active role in the implementation and evaluation of our existing Local Full Fibre Programme – working with local and national stakeholders. Your role will be to build on our work to date and shape an ambition for digital connectivity in the North of Tyne that gains local and national support, credibility, and investment. Ideally you will have a strong demonstrable track record of bidding to Government for resources and driving local collaboration.

You will bring understanding, experience, and connections – along with a clear vision and for how digital connectivity, innovation and economic growth can come together and how technology can transform public services. You will be a key part of the wider economic growth and policy teams and key stakeholders for this role will be our local authority partners and wider stakeholders such as the National Innovation Centre for Data. Together we have big ambitions that will see us collaborate closely and explore areas such as: harnessing the power of data to support innovation; approaches to drive improvement and digital transformation in public services; and, maximising investment in connectivity and infrastructure in the North of Tyne.

If you are interested in this opportunity, we would love to hear from you.

At North of Tyne Combined Authority, we don’t just accept difference, we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our team, our mission, and our residents. We are proud to embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
