If you are passionate about the local environment and the community benefits it provides, then an exciting opportunity exists for you at North Tyneside Council: We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced person to join our seafront team.

Fixed term positions have become available for four Beach Wardens to work along the coast and beaches of North Tyneside, between May and September 2021.

You will be required to assist in maintaining North Tyneside Council’s beaches and coastal infrastructure to the standards required to attain the international Blue Flag Awards and the National Seaside Awards administered by Keep Britain Tidy.

The post will involve dealing with enforcement and the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices regarding legislation relating to Public Spaces Protection Orders, Environmental Protection Act and dealing with antisocial behavior issues.

You will need to be able to work as part of a team and independently as required using your own initiative. You will work proactively with all members of the public and the wider team including external agencies and must also be able to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm for community safety and environmental issues.

A disposition to promote high standards of customer care and communication skills is essential for this post to provide a safe, clean, tidy and enjoyable coastal environment. You will be an integral member of Local Environmental Services team ensuring North Tyneside is a great place to live, work and visit.

Successful applicants will work in shifts covering 7 days per week and be expected to work outdoors on the resort beaches and coastline of North Tyneside for several hours per day in order to carry out their duties. The post is for 30 hours per week.
