The Children’s Sensory Team, part of the Together for Children organisation, a not-for-profit company providing Children’s Services for Sunderland, is looking to appoint an experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join our developing team supporting the achievement of deaf/hearing impaired children and young people, their families, early years settings and schools across the city.

The successful candidate will be expected to work with children across the 0-19 age range in a peripatetic role.
Ideally the successful candidate will have:
• The specialist mandatory qualifications in teaching deaf children (QToD), if this is not held then a willingness to undertake the qualification is essential.
• Recent experience of working in a mainstream classroom
• Experience of working with BSL families.
• Be a confident Competent BSL User - BSL Level 2 (or equivalent) or above
• Understanding and commitment to inclusive education and an ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
• Experience of technology to support children and young people with hearing loss.
Applicants are invited from qualified and experienced Teachers of the Deaf with appropriate levels of BSL, or from suitably experienced teachers with recent experience of classroom/early years teaching who have an interest in wanting to progress their career within the field of Deaf Education and Sign Language Skills.

This post requires travel between sites within a day and the successful candidate would be required to drive and have own transport or access to transport.
