Further Information
Community Health and Social Care Direct An opportunity has arisen for two permanent, full time, Social Worker posts, to work in Community Health and Social Care Direct (CHSCD) for Newcastle City Council. The positions will be based in Community Health and Social Care Direct for at least the first year. CHSCD is the first access point for adult social care across Newcastle upon Tyne.

You should have a relevant social work qualification, such as Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, as well as HCPC registration. We are happy to consider applications from progressed and un-progressed Social Workers as well as newly qualified / qualifying Social Workers.

The successful candidates will be responsible for a variety of tasks including responding to crisis/emergency situations, completing adult assessments, carers assessments and support planning, often in challenging situations. You will provide information, advice and support to prevent the need for long term support and promote independence.

The role requires you to be flexible, adapt quickly and have the ability to make sound judgements, often in an emergency. The Community Health and Social Care Direct Team work in a multi-disciplinary environment with health colleagues and care workers. As such, the team has an ethos towards collaborative working.

As well as the rewards that a career in adult social care will offer, you will also receive:

• Access to an induction and role specific training.
• The support of a very experienced and supportive team, who are committed to improving outcomes for the adults we work with.
• Generous annual leave in addition to Bank Holidays with the ability to buy additional leave annually.
• A flexible working policy (flexi scheme).
• Access to Mindfulness sessions and other wellbeing initiatives.
• Access to a generous, defined benefit pension scheme.
• Access to a home electronics scheme and vehicle leasing scheme.
• A work laptop and mobile phone, enabling you to work from home or an office site.

This is a really exciting time to join Newcastle City Council as we look to revamp how adult social care is delivered across the city.
