St Thomas More Catholic School is a co-educational Catholic Academy which provides for the education needs of 11-18 year old pupils from the west of Gateshead L.A. We are part of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle and have a strong commitment to Catholic Education.

Our school aims to provide a stimulating and encouraging environment within which students can attain the highest standards of which they are capable, and to assist them in taking their place in the world outside school in a useful and fulfilling career, with a firm sense of Christian commitment. We are strongly committed to the education of the whole child and being ‘the principal means of helping parents to fulfil their role in education’ [Canon Law:  796].

We are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, a family of secondary, middle, primary and first schools in Durham, Gateshead, Northumberland and Sunderland. Bishop Wilkinson is the largest Catholic Education Trust in the North East of England, and will have a total of 48 schools. St Thomas More is a school that places significant value on collaboration and as such is dedicated to working with our partner schools to improve the quality of education for all students in our care.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour & Welfare Assistant to join St Thomas More Catholic School. The successful candidate will be able to support the school in addressing the needs of students who require particular support to overcome behavioural, emotional or social barriers to learning in order for them to engage fully with learning in a mainstream context.
