The Governing Body wishes to appoint an enthusiastic Administration Assistant to join our office team.
The post is part time, 15 hours per week, five days a week, Monday - Friday 8.30am – 11.30am term time only.

Essential criteria 4 GCSEs A-C (or equivalent), including English and maths.

The successful candidate will be reliable, have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, using a range of media and have experience of clerical work. In return, we offer a supportive, welcoming working environment and excellent professional development opportunities. The successful candidate will work very closely with both the Headteacher and all of the staff within our village school.

The successful candidate should possess:
• Excellent communication skills (Microsoft word, Office 365, Publisher and Excel).
• Experience of school systems (i.e. ParentPay and Teachers2Parents)
• The ability to work in an office environment, with the skills to organise, prioritise and deal with multiple tasks whilst meeting deadlines.
• Good organisational skills.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:
• Support the day-to-day running of the school office.
• Support the Headteacher and work with the Senior Admin officer.
• Provide clerical support and be able to use a range of IT packages, including financial systems.

It is desirable, but not essential (as training would be provided) that the successful candidate will have experience of working within a school environment and can use SIMS, FMS and ParentPay.

Calculation of term time only pay

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.2 weeks (26 days) or 6.2 weeks (31 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service.
Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 26 days annual leave.
Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive
31 days annual leave.
For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:
38 weeks (term time) + 26 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 44.8 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
38 weeks (term time) + 31 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45.8 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

The post is not open to job share.

Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.
