Flexible Working, Term Time

Required from 1st October 2022 – 31st July 2023

We are looking for in-school tutors for English, mathematics and science to join our successful support staff team. The successful applicants will focus on in-class support as well as small group and one-to-one intervention to multiple year groups helping to raise standards of achievement and progress for all.

These positions have become available as part of the Government's response to COVID-19 and the introduction of The National Tutoring Programme. It is intended to provide bespoke support to disadvantaged and/or vulnerable students.
The successful applicant(s) will need to complete the School-Led Tutor Training Course. This is expected to take approximately 11 hours to complete.

This is an excellent opportunity to join Belmont Community School as we build upon our Ofsted “Good” rating. We will offer you a supportive network of colleagues and access to training and CPD as required.

As our name implies, the school lies at the heart of its community. Belmont is a leafy suburb on the outskirts of Durham City. As a result of high expectations, enthusiastic teaching and very positive relationships, students enjoy school and want to do well.

Calculation of term time only pay

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.2 weeks (26 days) or 6.2 weeks (31 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 26 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive
31 days annual leave.
For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:
38 weeks (term time) + 26 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 44.8 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
38 weeks (term time) + 31 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45.8 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Details are also available via the links below or alternatively contact Helen Burton on 0191 3865715. Please note we do not accept CV’s.

Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.
