We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Disclosure Officer to join our Special Investigations team, within the Community Protection Service.

Our Disclosure Officer will perform a critical role across the service, working on complex investigations and building and preparing case files for criminal prosecution.

The service covers a broad remit within the regulatory arena, including trading standards, licencing, food safety, housing, animal health, community safety, pollution, and nuisance action.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Working alongside our investigating officers, you will assess, summarise, and schedule all unused material gathered during a criminal investigation, and provide detailed advice and support.

You will attend court hearings and trials to give evidence on matters relating to proceedings and will liaise with victims and witnesses of crime, supporting them through the criminal justice process.

When required, you will investigate criminal offences with a view to reporting for enforcement action.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
You will need an HNC or NVQ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, or substantial practical experience relevant to this post with a regulatory agency or enforcement body. You will also need:

• Experience of investigations, enforcement, and legal proceedings, including court
experience.
• Experience of undertaking the role of disclosure officer
• Knowledge of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) Code of Practice.
• Ability to solve complex problems
• Report writing skills
• Ability to form effective working partnerships
• Flexibility to changing demands
