Gateshead Council is seeking to appoint a Building Control Enforcement Officer to join the Building Control Team. The Team works to ensure that new construction complies with the Building Regulations.

You will work on investigating and inspecting Building Regulations and Dangerous Structures Enforcement issues, liaising with Building Surveyors and other employees to ensure that legislation and regulations are followed and taking enforcement action where required.

You will have 4 GCSE's grade C or above including Maths and English or equivalent, strong customer service skills, and will have knowledge of the Building Control and construction process and experience of working with and negotiating with customers to resolve disputes. It is essential that you have good IT skills.

You will have a current driving licence.

It is also desirable that you have knowledge of the Building Regulations and associated legislation, prosecution and enforcement processes and, have or are working towards a degree in Building Surveying or equivalent and experience of a wide range of buildings in a Building Control Environment.
