Further Information
“Moving to a green, healthy, dynamic and thriving North East” is our region’s vision for transport. For passengers and freight, Transport North East oversees strategic transport planning at a regional level on behalf of the North East Joint Transport Committee, representing the seven local authorities in our region.

Our region’s Enhanced Partnership between bus operators, local authorities and Nexus is at the heart of our mission to attract more people to this sustainable mode.

You’ll be a key champion for bus in our region, enabling our partners and stakeholders to develop and deliver their ideas for better services and you’ll set the scene for effective collaboration across the North East. Ambassadorial skills are essential as you will represent the region within the bus industry and will be required to grow relationships and successfully influence decision makers nationally.

You will help broker solutions to make sure that KPIs of the Enhanced Partnership remain on track, ensuring that projects are developed in line with the requirements of the North East Transport Plan. Delivery should meet the expectations of elected decision makers, taking into account a whole host of governance and complex legal processes.

You will need to be a good listener too: all our partners have locally distinct characteristics which you need to take the time to understand and will frequently be required to support and confidently brief senior stakeholders and officials.

Buses are a crucial part of our sustainable transport network and touch millions of lives in our region each year. They are a means for families to enjoy days out, students to independently reach education, workers to find opportunities and a vital link we can all use to sustainably connect with friends and relatives or reach essential services such as health care. Without buses, people and communities would quite literally be left behind, so the Head of Enhanced Partnership role is pivotal to the success of our region and its people.
Critically, you will be a senior manager at Transport North East, with the right leadership qualities to drive our organisation forward and secure excellent results. Why not join us on the Transport North East journey?
