Further Information
EXCELLENT ALONE - OUTSTANDING TOGETHER

Xentrall Shared Services is a forward thinking public service partnership between Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington Borough Councils. ICT is one of the services provided by Xentrall and we have an exciting and challenging programme of ICT projects many of which are transforming the Council’s ICT architecture.

This role has lead responsibility for the server estate, which includes over 500 virtual servers on a VMWare infrastructure. This platform includes Cisco UCS VMWare hosts, a HP 3Par SAN and Cisco Nexus enterprise network switches. This represents an excellent opportunity to work with a combination of cutting-edge data centre technologies spread across two sites, incorporating disaster recovery facilities.

The ICT Server Availability Engineer will ensure changes to the server environment are properly planned, authorised and managed to maintain the focus on efficiency, availability and resilience of the server architecture and resolve 3rd line incidents in line with SLA and KPI commitments.

This role will sit within a formalised ITIL based environment and all projects follow the PRINCE II methodology. ITIL training to foundation level and above is available as part of a comprehensive training programme to ensure staff are qualified and up to date with relevant technology.

The successful candidate will have current and proven experience in 3rd line server support in a large organisation. As a consequence, you will have significant skills and experience in various server software, physical and virtual hardware platforms and data centre technologies. Your customer service skills will be equally well developed and a commitment to quality evident in your experience.

In return, as well as giving you the opportunity to assist in the delivery and support of an exciting ICT architecture programme, we offer a friendly, professional and modern working environment where individual effort and teamwork are recognised and appreciated, both by colleagues and customers alike.

Xentrall ICT Services are based in Darlington and the successful candidate will be required to travel to locations across the Tees Valley as necessary.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council ensures that all customers, both internal and external receive a consistently high quality level of service.
