We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about the health of people in Durham, to join our Public Health team as a Public Health Practitioner.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about public health, experience of delivering or commissioning public health services and with excellent interpersonal skills to engage partners in the development of health and wellbeing programmes.

Public Health Practitioners are responsible for the delivery, coordination and facilitation of a range of evidence based public health programmes that build on local assets to address multiple health needs. This will include responsibility for a group of public health outcomes and process measures to achieve defined targets linked to the Public Health Outcomes Framework and mandated services which are a core function/ responsibility of Durham County Council.

*Public Health Practitioner (Suicide Prevention)
• The post holder will support the work of Suicide Prevention Alliance (SPA) to reduce the incidence of death by suicide in County Durham.
• The postholder will develop and maintain the local multi-agency suicide prevention action plan reflecting Office for Health Improvement and Disparities six key priority areas to reduce the risk of suicide in key high-risk groups and deliver against the national strategy.
• The postholder will also link to the wider mental health and wellbeing work across County Durham system.

Required Qualifications: Applicants will be expected to hold a relevant degree, supplemented by public health improvement knowledge, acquired through training, courses and experience and evidence of continuing professional development.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on 17th March 2022.
