We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

The Age Disability Service is seeking an experienced candidate to join the Special Educational Needs Team. We are a friendly but highly professional team working closely within a multidisciplinary framework to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The SEND Finance and Data Officer will contribute to the on-going review, evaluation and development of the SEND Service. You will provide detailed information to the SEND Manager in relation to financial income and expenditure and be responsible for the allocation of agreed financial spend for children and young people with SEND. You will develop and maintain robust financial and data monitoring systems and have the ability to prepare reports and scrutinise and challenge where necessary. You will also supervise the business administration worker in the team.

Applicants should be motivated and have high personal standards of self-discipline, be able to demonstrate a flexible and organised approach to their work and be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. You will work closely with School Business Managers and Finance Officers within local authorities.

You should have knowledge of using specialist ICT packages, and experience of working in Local Government, Health Authority or other similar organisations, staff management and budget monitoring. You should also possess a high level of interpersonal and initiative skills. It would be desirable that you have knowledge of relevant SEND legislation, and a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, together with previous experience of SEN administration and preparing written reports.

The council is an accredited Investors in People employer at gold level and holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
