We are seeking a dynamic and talented individual to build on Durham’s world class cultural reputation. Bringing strong management and leadership to a wide portfolio of Theatres, Museums, Collections, Libraries, Heritage venues, Festivals and Events both directly and through our key partners.

As a culture professional you will need a strong understanding of our audiences and be able to drive these both creatively and commercially and be able to demonstrate experience of having successfully delivered a wide variety of arts and culture services and projects. You will bring specialist knowledge of arts and culture policy and practice in order to shape and transform not only our creative but community, health and tourism aspirations.

County Durham has a wide portfolio of cultural venues, programmes and activities affording you the opportunity to be part of shaping a vibrant cultural offer. We have a growing reputation for producing theatre at our flagship Gala Theatre, produce festivals of national and international note including Lumiere and BRASS and provide the opportunity to work with key cultural partners including Artichoke, New Writing North, The Bowes Museum, the Science Museum Group, Durham Cathedral, Durham University and Beamish, to nurture a thriving cultural offer.

We have aspirations around transforming our libraries and venues and working closely with the management team and supported by a senior team of arts, library and heritage officers you will lead these exciting programmes.

Required Qualifications:
• Relevant professional qualification at degree level or equivalent
• Membership of a relevant professional institute
