An opportunity has arisen within Sunderland City Council for Gas Fitters / Heating Engineers / Plumbers within the Property Services Section.
The roles will involve working in domestic, industrial and commercial buildings carrying out a range of technical trade activities to deliver installation, repairs and maintenance functions. This includes statutory compliance of commercial and domestic mechanical equipment on a periodic basis.
Working alongside colleagues within the Property Services Team you will ensure that work is delivered to a high standard and meet our quality and performance expectations.
The post holders will be working as part of our Mechanical Services department carrying out a variety of tasks to support business needs whilst being able to undertake mechanical work as part of a maintenance team, ensuring all work is delivered to a high standard, providing an excellent customer service and ensuring all work is delivered on time and within budget.
The work will typically be in schools and small to medium sized commercial properties.
Appliances covered include: commercial catering appliances, heating and hot water boilers, ambi-rad style heaters and space heaters, domestic heating systems, (experience on all of the above not necessary but preferred). Must be able to work alone and as part of a team and be proactive and resourceful in diagnosing problems. Experience in basic plumbing and heating system repairs would also be preferred.
To succeed in this role applicants must have a relevant commercial and/or domestic Gas qualifications and experience of working within a busy operational repairs and maintenance department. Commercial ACS qualifications is desired and experience of commercial catering an advantage.

The proposed hours of the role are 37 hours per week across 5 days Monday to Friday with flexible working.
This is a full-time permanent position.
Working within the Repairs and Maintenance Team, you will be provided with a company vehicle for work purposes, as well as access to out of hours call out which attracts additional payments to the salary already on offer.
There is also a generous annual leave entitlement, which commences at 26 days rising to 31 days after 5 years of continuous service, in addition to this you will receive all statutory bank holidays for England & Wales. There is also a contributory government pension scheme, and access to flexible working.
