Pension:
You will automatically become a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme which will be deducted direct from your salary. The scheme is administered by the Tyne and Wear Pension Fund.

The LGPS provides a guaranteed package of benefits which are backed by law including:
• A secure pension - payable for life that increases with the cost of living
• Tax free cash - the option to exchange part of your pension for a tax-free lump sum at retirement
• Voluntary early retirement - from age 60, or from age 55 with your employer's consent (even though the Scheme's normal pension age is 65)
• Ill-health cover - if you have to retire due to illness you could receive immediate benefits which may be based on an enhanced period of scheme membership
• Redundancy cover - with the early payment of pension benefits if you are made redundant or retired on business efficiency grounds at 55 or over
• Life cover - with a lump sum of three times your final pay if you die in service
• Cover for my family upon my death - including a survivor's pension for your husband, wife, civil partner or nominated cohabiting partner as well as children's pensions.

• It takes advantage of tax and National Insurance efficiencies which are only available in relation to work related training and qualifications, training and qualifications linked to reasonable career development

Details of Benefits Plus Car Leasing Scheme.
• NHS Fleet Solutions are the providers of the Council's Benefits Plus Car Leasing Scheme
• It is designed to allow all permanent employees (subject to contract) to access any car from any manufacturer at a very attractive price. You sacrifice a portion of your salary and in return lease a car for a period of three years. You also pay less tax and National Insurance
• There is no deposit, costs are fixed for the duration of the lease and include roadside assistance, fully comprehensive insurance for up to four named drivers (subject to them being legally entitled to drive), replacement of worn/damaged tyres and servicing

Employees of North Tyneside Council can save over £850 a year by signing up to a scheme that provides tax-free childcare.
• The North Tyneside Council Childcare Benefit Scheme is intended to bring significant financial benefits to those employees with responsibility for childcare up to age 16 years and covers childminders, nursery out-of-school clubs, holiday clubs, breakfast clubs
