Welcome to Sunderland
Sunderland is on the north east coast. One of the UK’s greenest cities, it has acres of parks, a network of cycle-ways and a stunning coastline. It’s a short drive from two international airports and mainline rail networks and is less than twenty minutes’ drive from the neighbouring cities of Durham and Newcastle.
Well known for its world class Nissan car factory – the most productive in Europe, Sunderland is carving a dynamic new future for itself on the region’s entrepreneurial landscape. The city has gained a Lifetime Achievement Award as one of the world’s seven most IT-intelligent communities. Investment in the latest digital connectivity has also resulted in Sunderland being the first city in the UK to offer blanket superfast broadband and the UK’s first smarter city with private city-wide cloud technology.
The city also has a growing cultural scene with the Sunderland Empire theatre attracting high-profile productions including War Horse and The Lion King; the National Glass Centre; the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens; and the acclaimed Northern Gallery of Contemporary Art, all within easy reach of the city centre. The Stadium of Light, home to the city’s football team transforms itself into one of the leading stadium concert venues each summer and has welcomed Pink, Bon Jovi and Take That. The famous Sunderland International Airshow, now in its 26th year is the largest free airshow in Europe, with over a million visitors over the weekend.
Sunderland really is a great place to live and work - come and work with us and see for yourself.
