Further Information
The Supported Housing Improvement Programme (SHIP) is a Government Funded programme which aims to improve the standards of support for those living in supported housing and deliver value for money. Sunderland have secured funding for two years which has allowed the Council to deliver a project to improve the quality of supported housing.
The project will inspect supported housing schemes throughout the city and devise and implement actions to improve the offer of support and ensure it is fit for purpose and offers value for money to the public purse.
As Project Manager you will lead the project and the day-to-day management of two SHIP Monitoring Officers and direct actions of linked environmental health officers.
You will have experience of working in supported housing or the housing sector, ideally within a Local Authority. You will have experience of supported housing, including:
Knowledge of the housing benefit scheme, specifically how supported housing schemes are funded by housing benefit
Development and implementation of delivery plans and needs assessments in relation to short-term supported housing
Experience of developing performance matrices to identify poor performance and ways of driving improvement
Experience of compiling and monitoring statistical returns
Ability to create good relationships with providers of supported housing schemes to encourage early engagement with the local authority
Ability to think strategically and observe how the SHIP project links with the Council’s priorities and strategic aims of the City Plan, Housing Strategy and the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy
You will possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where no 2 days are the same. You will have a real passion for housing and delivering high-quality support services.
Applicants will have experience of working within the Support Sector or Housing environment and be aware of what quality support and housing looks like and associated service standards.
