Further Information
Due to the retirement of the current Site Supervisor, an opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work as Site Supervisor at St. Helen’s Primary School. Typical duties within this post will encompass responsibility for the security of the premises, Health and Safety aspects, the operation of heating and lighting plant as well as a range of general and porterage duties. There will be a responsibility for the management of a small scale budget and the cleaning of defined areas in school.

DIY skills and experience of generic caretaking would be an advantage. You should be reliable and have a strong commitment to high standards of service and customer care. It is essential that you are capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying of equipment, materials and furniture in line with school policies and procedures.

You must be positive, hardworking and able to forge positive relationships with both internal and external customers, as well as service users and colleagues.

St. Helen’s Primary School has 318 pupils inclusive of a 26 place Nursery and a 16 place 2 Year Old provision. We have above average FSM and deprivation. The vision for St. Helen’s Primary School is to ‘enable all pupils (no matter what their background or starting point) to achieve their full potential and promote the school as a ‘beacon’ of the community, where aspirations are achieved and dreams are a reality for all pupils, staff and families’.

We expect the successful candidate to:

Be able to maintain site records relating to the maintenance of the school site
Undertake minor repairs (not requiring a skilled craftsperson) and maintenance of the buildings and sites
Liaise with contractors and organise works in accordance with school procedures and Health and Safety expectations
Have an understanding of Health and Safety procedures and promote and ensure the Health and Safety of staff, pupils and visitors at all times
Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school
Be an effective role model for pupils by demonstrating and promoting the positive values, attitudes and behaviour expected from pupils

In return you will receive:

Excellent professional development as part of the school team and be given the opportunity to inspire and impact on others
A welcoming environment that is supported by committed, dedicated colleagues
A school which is reflective and strives for continual improvement
A supportive Governing Body who are committed to bringing around rapid improvement and ensuring the well-being of all our pupils

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

Application packs are available from the school office, or electronic copies can be requested using the email address admin@sthelensschool.org.uk Applications should be returned to Mrs. Carole Bradley (Headteacher).

If you wish to visit the school or discuss the role further then please contact school on 01429 267038.
