Further Information
The Governing Body of Acomb First School, near Hexham (Britain’s happiest place to live!), are seeking to appoint an ambitious and passionate Headteacher to further grow our small, nurturing school. This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly established and enthusiastic staff team, as we build on recent success and continue our progress and transformation. There is a (flexible) 0.2 teaching commitment whereby the appointed person can demonstrate their outstanding teaching.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a genuinely loving and caring school. We are looking for a Headteacher who cares deeply and is passionate for children and their learning, who can build very strong relationships with pupils and their families, and who is willing to go the extra mile to make a difference to our local community. The successful candidate will have a strong current, research-backed knowledge of the curriculum as well as recent experience of rapid and sustained improvement.

We are looking for a leader with a very high degree of personal drive, to work closely with the staff and Governors, who:
• Demands ambitious standards and high expectations for all pupils’ attitudes, achievements and behaviour in order to overcome disadvantage
• Has excellent and deep subject knowledge of the curriculum across the first school age range, and understands the importance of preparation for the next stage of their education
• Is forward thinking, passionate and committed to enabling high quality teaching, both in terms of their own teaching and those of others
• Can balance the demands of teaching with those of being a leader
• Can work with stakeholders to develop an ambitious vision for the school
• Is able to translate school improvement priorities into practical actions which support and empower pupils and staff to succeed

Ideally, the successful candidate would take up post from April 2022 however, the governors would be willing to appoint from May/September 2022 for the right candidate.

In return, we offer happy, polite and kind children who learn within beautiful surroundings. The Governing Body will support the successful candidate’s vision in every way they can and will support your own professional development.

Interested in applying? Visits are warmly welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the current Headteacher, Mrs Beth Clarke, at the school. Please call us to arrange a convenient time during the wb 31.1.22 on 01434 603870.

A completed application form, safer recruitment form and equalities monitoring form must be submitted by noon on Monday 7th February to headships@northumberland.gov.uk.
