Further Information
Here in Sunderland we are diversifying how we help and support people who become homeless. We have realigned the Housing Options Team to ensure the team is well placed to meet the needs of all people who are street homeless and those threatened with homelessness. We will work to ensure that all move to and sustain independent living.

For many this journey is not a straight line, therefore we have increased the team and have added more diverse roles to ensure people are supported at every stage of their journey to a safe and secure home. You will note we are recruiting into many new posts and this is a great time to join a cohesive team who always support each other.

If you have a passion for working hard and helping people, then we encourage you to come and talk to us at City Hall on 10th August 2022, Committee Room 1 between 2pm-4pm.

I’m sure you will be inspired by our passion and see that we have shaped a great team structure which will help homeless clients to move on with their lives, as well as being equipped to sustain a safe home.

As a Move On officer you will provide a comprehensive, proactive package to those individuals who are presently accommodated in temporary accommodation and non commissioned supported accommodation. The aim of the role will be working with individuals to ensure they have all the tools required to move on into suitable permanent accommodation.

The successful candidate should have experience of working with those who have experienced homelessness. You should be aware of the challenges vulnerable people face and have a caring nature whilst also being able to deal with difficult situations. You should have demonstrated being able to move homeless households on from temporary and short term accommodation into independent living.

Please note this role will require working as part of a rota to cover the Homelessness Out of Hours Service.

This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Applications should be made on-line at northeastjobs.org.uk/sunderlandcitycouncil. For further assistance contact Operational HR Services by email: jobs@sunderland.gov.uk
