We are looking to recruit a qualified Social Work practitioner with evidence of continued professional development, that demonstrates enhanced theoretical, legislative and research knowledge. The successful candidate will have the confidence and skills to manage complex and potentially high risk situations that come to attention of the Emergency Duty Team at nights, over the course of weekends and on bank holidays. They must feel comfortable deciding whether matters considered by the service require consultation with On-Call Managers, and be able to independently initiate a response to incoming safeguarding concerns when circumstances, legislation, policy & procedure require.

In addition to this, the post holder will take some responsibility for managing resources out of hours and will assist in overseeing, guiding and mentoring colleagues, both from within the council and those working in partner agencies who share our safeguarding responsibilities to children and young people across the community. The post holder will also take some responsibility in the training of student practitioners and newly qualified Social Workers, promoting an accurate understanding of EDT and its activities. There will be scope for the successful post holder to also get involved in liaising with stake-holding agencies and individuals, ensuring that the provision continues developing in response to the needs of the community.

This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

If candidates would like to have an informal discussion about these important roles please contact Sarah Anavberokhai on 0191 561 2839
