Are you passionate about supporting the Net Zero transition in the North East? Do you want to help put the region at the heart of the UK’s low carbon economy? Do you want to make a difference with the chance to use your imagination, project delivery and partnership development skills?

This exciting opportunity could be just what you’re looking for.

This job will have a regional focus and is being brought forward by the North of Tyne Combined Authority in partnership with the North East Local Enterprise Partnership. Both organisations have responsibilities for inclusive economic growth and supporting regeneration. We are already making a difference to the lives of local people, with a clear priority of helping the communities we serve fulfil their true potential. This role will transition into the North East Mayoral Combined Authority in May 2024, following the announcement of a £1.4bn devolution deal earlier this year.

We don’t just accept difference, we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our team, our mission, and our residents. We are proud to embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.

This role will provide the leadership, vision and direction for the Combined Authority across the areas of clean growth, environmental improvement and social justice in the context of decarbonisation and the transition to net zero. This includes strategic oversight of the Net Zero North East England Partnership and its Board.

We are looking for an outstanding and energetic individual to shape this work and move projects into delivery. If you’re a driven professional with experience in delivering net zero projects and developing partnerships then we want to hear from you.

If you would like to be part of a team that is critical to the growth of the region, and you have a clear sense of how to translate the strategic aspirations of our Mayor and Cabinet into action on the ground, then we really want to hear from you.

If you’re looking for a flexible approach to work, we will be operating on a hybrid model, so we would be open to discussing this with you. However, if you are looking to relocate here, then that’s great too. By coming to work in the North of Tyne, you can enjoy a fulfilling job as well as a great quality of life, with some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside and beaches on your doorstep. Our flexible approach allows employees to have a great work-life-balance, with your wellbeing at its heart.
