An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Public Health Practitioner to join the public health team in South Tyneside. The public health team is committed to delivering improvements in health outcomes and reducing health inequalities for the people of South Tyneside.

The post holder will:
  • Make a significant difference to the health and wellbeing of people in South Tyneside.
  • Lead a range of public health programmes and provide evidenced-based public health advice, expertise and support to partners and stakeholders. 

This post holder will support and help develop programmes and initiatives that will deliver outcomes around the South Tyneside Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Director of Public Health report and the public health work plan.

The main duties of this post will be, healthy weight, oral health, alcohol, hot food takeaway applications and NHS health checks.

You will work to:
  • Identify opportunities to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities across the public health portfolio, delivering specific programmes and contributing to a range of public health priorities using specialist knowledge and experience.
  • Develop and implement public health programmes with a range of partners in various settings to ensure evidence-based delivery to meet South Tyneside’s Health and Wellbeing priorities and the Council’s public health plan.
