About the role
Together for Children Sunderland is looking for an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking Senior Educational Psychologist to join our expanding Educational Psychology Service at an exciting point of development and change.
This is a key leadership opportunity for a skilled educational psychologist who is ready to contribute to the strategic development, transformation and operational delivery of a service that is preparing for national SEND reform and Sunderland’s proposed Experts at Hand model.
Working alongside the Principal Educational Psychologist, you will help shape the strategic vision for the Educational Psychology Service, support organisational change and contribute to the development of high-quality, evidence-based practice across education, health and care partnerships.
You will support the leadership and stability of a skilled and aspirational workforce, contribute to service improvement, oversee quality and value for money in assessment and intervention processes, and play a lead advisory and managerial role in preparations for new co-produced systems and structures.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. We will also carry out an online internet search for information that is publicly available online that might suggest that you are not fit to work with children or young people.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Experience of assessment, consultation, intervention, training and research.
- Strong knowledge of statutory SEND processes and current reform priorities.
- Experience of supervision, professional development and supporting trainees or assistant educational psychologists.
- Confidence in partnership working with schools, families, children and young people, universities and multi-agency colleagues.
- A commitment to psychologically informed, child-centred and evidence-based practice.
- The ability to work flexibly, manage competing priorities and contribute to strategic service development.
