Middlesbrough Council - Our location

Situated on the northeast coast of England, Middlesbrough is at the centre of the Tees Valley conurbation and is strategically positioned between Newcastle to the north and Leeds to the south. Whilst there are plenty of reasons to want to stay local, the Cleveland Hills, North Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Dales and North East Coast are within easy reach.

The town has good transport links to the A66 and A1(M) via the A66 trunk road.

There is easy access to the East Coast main rail-line and Durham Tees Valley and
Newcastle airports. Teesport, the UK’s second largest port, lies a few miles to the east of the borough’s boundary.

Regular coach services link with London, Heathrow, Luton and Gatwick Airports, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, York and other key towns and cities across the country.
Local buses provide regular links within Middlesbrough and to most major towns in the North East.
Middlesbrough is on the National Cycle Network. National Cycle route 1 (Inverness to Dover) runs for 10 km through the town. Middlesbrough Environment City has opened the region's first staffed, secure cycle park which offers free parking for up to 55 cycles, with an overspill for further cycles.
